Beach House & Corner House

The Beach House, located in Worthing, is a bar and cafe specialising in homemade burgers and local ales. Following the success of their seafront front venture, the Beach House team have opened a second pub, The Corner House, focusing on a quality Sunday roast.

Our relationship with The Beach House started in 2015, when they came to us in need of help with their Facebook page. The dedication and direction we were able to provide in terms of social media progressed to building a responsive WordPress website, and we were then asked to repeat the process for their new venture, The Corner House.

Challenges

Competition on Worthing’s bar scene is fierce, so standing out amongst similar businesses was one of the things we aimed for, and using the unique Beach House selling points of homemade burgers and a gorgeous decked terrace we achieved that goal. We also knew we needed to have content ideas in place for seasonal changes too. The Beach House is on the seafront, so tempting customers on wet and windy days as well as sunny summer ones was a must.

Results

Through regular posts and analysis of what content works best, Hit Refresh has grown The Beach House following on Facebook considerably. This has kept the bar current, and continues to attracts new customers as well as engaging with regulars. The Corner House social media presence was built from scratch, and through giving the residents of Worthing regular updates on the preparation process, the opening was a roaring success.

Ongoing

As both The Beach House and The Corner House continue to be popular amongst food and drink lovers in Worthing, and with both WordPress websites launched in January 2016 we will continue write regular SEO optimised blog posts to increase their Google rankings.  Already we have seen both establishments appear on the first page of Google for a number of search terms, including ‘Dog friendly pubs in Worthing’.  We will also continue to manage all the social media pages and keep up with all the latest from both bars, putting our cameras to good use where necessary!

More Detail

The owners of The Beach House approached us in early 2015, having been open for just under a year. They had made a start on their Facebook page, and had begun to build a following, but they were struggling to find the time to keep up with social media as well as running the bar. They needed someone to dedicate time to regular updates, with ideas of how they could grow their online following, and that’s where Hit Refresh came in.

When we took on the Facebook page, the number of people who ‘liked’ The Beach House stood at around 1,300. Within a few months of regular, creative updates and campaigns, the ‘like’ count had risen to 2000, and under a year later the initial number had doubled. We also set up a Twitter page, something previously untouched by The Beach House, and took high quality photos of the bar and the food, which we’ve been able to use across their online platforms.

Later in 2015, the owners of The Beach House announced they would be opening a sister bar in Worthing, The Corner House, and asked Hit Refresh to take care of the social media for that too. By the opening night in October, the Corner House Facebook page had reached over 1000 followers, and the bar itself was packed. Advertising for the opening had been done solely through the Facebook page, so the huge turnout was a fantastic display of social media at work.

Since the opening of The Corner House, Hit Refresh have built and launched responsive WordPress websites for both bars, which include pages for regular, SEO optimised blog entries. The management of social media and both websites is ongoing, and we continue to be involved in the progression of these exciting Worthing businesses.
